How can you guarantee upload speeds higher than 80mpbs? My current provider gives me at best 45mpbs.

You would need to ask Aussie Broadband that question. Myself, I regularly get 90/30 so quite close to 100/40.

I need to change my service provider. We generally run 3-4 computers at any given time I guess I cannot expect fast speeds

Upload speeds or download speeds? We currently do not have plans with upload speeds over 40Mpbs. We do have download speeds tiers that are much higher with 100Mbps down and for FTTP 250Mbps down. https://www.aussiebroadband.com.au/nbn-plans/

Good morning,

I would like to switch to another provider. Would I still need a new modem if I will sign up with you?
I am very much interested in getting the NBN 100. Also, please advise the time frame for this.

Greatly appreciate for taking the time.

Depending on your previous provider, you may have to return the old modem anyway. AussieBB do not stipulate their own modem, but recommend you purchase theirs.

Hi Glizelda, we can't guarantee that your current provider's modem will work as it may be locked to them, however, we are happy to try to help you to configure it. If we aren't successful, you may need to get a new modem. Time frame for someone with nbn already is very little. You're looking a 15 mins to a couple of hours. Hope that helps. Cheers, Mel

Hi, I've just ordered ABB's NBN100 with "casual" phone service included. I'm planning on supplying my own NBN modem router, will I need one with VOIP capability in order to use the phone? TIA

Hi Rob, I really recommend getting a VoIP compatible router to plug your phone into, yes. Otherwise, you can look into ordering an ATA from us that will allow you to use your phone with a router without VoIP compatibility. There are plenty of options and decent VoIP compatible routers out there. If you go the ATA route, then our ATA's (SPA112) come pre-configured to be plug and play. Cheers, Mel

So, I need to change to NBN, Optus customer for 25years plus... they've given a cut off of January 2020currently living overseas but the family home in Hughesdale Australia needs NBM. I have a little install issue. Box is outside my bedroom, need the install to be in a different room obviously I don't want it in my master bedroom. Want the install to be in a room under my staircase, can this be looked into by an istaller before I commit to a plan?

You will need to hire a private licenced cabler to install it in a different room. NBN will put it inside from where the box is only. This may be able to be done prior to the nbn installation, and I know it can be done after the nbn installation. Hope this helps. Cheers, Mel

The answer ABB has given you is correct. NBN company will only get you hooked up to the NBN, you will be required to pay for reposining of the NBN box yourself, That includes cable running and installation. The best thing to do would be to get a couple of quotes. Electricians or data cable installers. Best of luck

Hi there,

I'm with Optus at the moment but wanting to change over to Aussie BB. I am a gamer and play upstairs in a double story house. Our setup is usually downstairs.. I'm wanting to stream gameplay. Will your modem on the NBN 100 be alright for that or would I need to buy a gaming router and have your modem? I live in Patterson so near Bentleigh VIC and was also wondering if the speed works well for that area through you guys.

Thanks,
George

Hi George, I would recommend hitting up our whirlpool forum for advice on modem routers for gaming in a 2 story house. We have the Netcomm 18ACV, but the wifi range is not the best for larger homes and it may struggle to reach the 2nd floor. You do not need our modem to connect with us. https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/152 Cheers. Mel

Look at the asus rc88u. Im a gamer but cant get NBN100 on FTTN as Im too far from the node, but my Aussie service consistently hits 42mbps this is top speed for me with at least 2 Xbox, fetch, multiple phones, a ps4 and 2 iPads at any one time with plenty of bandwidth left, as a gamer on setup advise the Aussie team to disable CG-NAT for a native IP address or you may find the Sony or Pc will struggle. The Xbox seems to be ok with that setup. My config is a 4 bedroom house. With smart TVs also running 4K streaming ;) good luck as you wont find a better provider!

I have a current optus broadband cable connection and the outlet is for a coaxial cable.
- Will it be changed to ethernet outlet when moved to nbn HFC?
- As well, I'm planning to buy my own router, possibly a NETGEAR Nighthawk X4S R7800 or an ASUS RT-AC88U. Any of these will work ok?
Thanks.
Marcos.

Hi Mark, you will be given an Arris modem that will connect to the coaxial cable. Then, you can connect your router to the Arris modem. Either can work with our service. Hope that helps. Cheers, Mel

What is the average speed during peak, which modem will I get? contract ? month by month?

No idea. Telstra don't know either or at least their operators won't disclose that information openly. My understanding is that, to match the speed you had before the switch, you have to pay a premium price. You have to also take out a two year contract to get the modem. I was hoping to disengage myself from Telstra at the end of next year but now I'm stuck with them forever :( :( :(

Aussie Broadband
Official RepAussie Broadband

Hi Sonny, if you're FTTN, then we will run a line test after you're connected to let you know your line speeds. All other technology types have other factors with exception to Fibre to the Premises. Our sales team will be able to assist more. We only offer no contract plans. You can choose to purchase our modem which is a Netcomm NF18ACV for $149, or you can bring your own modem. Hope that helps to clarify. Cheers, Mel

Hi there, you just need to apply online or by phone (1300 880 905) and the team can talk you through the switchover process. Often takes less than one hour to churn across internet - VoIP can take a bit longer, though. cheers, Janet.
