Archer Gas 700 Series

We have had an Archer IS700 gas log fire for about 10 years and it has operated well. However in the last year or so it has started to have intermittent problems starting up.
The problem appears to be related to the flue fan. Normally the flue fan light on the front panel comes on when the fire is switched on. However sometimes the light stays on for less than a second and the fire will not start. After repeated (up to 50) attempts to switch on, the light will finally stay on and the fire starts.
We got a serviceman to look at the fire. He opened the front and cleaned dust out with a vacuum cleaner, which helped for a while, but then the fault returned. Any thoughts on how to fix this problem?

Hello brianbron you may just have partial blockage in your flue and we may need to do a delayed pressure switch test or your pump container may just need a good clean, also we need to know the brand name and model number on your pressure switch,we can guide you through this procedure over the phone and should be able to rectify your issue rather simply or we can put you in touch with a trained tech if you like, so if you give us a call we can assist you either way our numbers are 1300 388 953 or (03)9795-8895 it is difficult to explain things via email, hope this has been of some help to you best regards from tech support at Aurora climate systems the manufacturer of the Archer gas log fire.

We contacted Aurora at the number given and they were very helpful in suggesting a number of possible reasons for our problem, and ways to check this ourselves. We found the reason was a spider web in our flue pipe, which was easily fixed with a vacuum cleaner. Fire is now back to normal. Excellent service from Aurora.

Hello Luke if you see your rear burner physically lighting for two or three seconds and then goes out and tries again that would be a flame sensing issue and you may just need to clean the flame censor which we can guide you over the phone on how to do this,if you see your rear igniter coming on and its not lighting, like no gas coming through then it could be a gas supply problem you can check this buy rotating the coils on the gas valve, its probably best to give us a call and we can assist you over the phone on how to rectify your heater or put you in touch with a tech if required our contact numbers are 1300 388 953 or (03) 9795 8895 hope this has been of some help to you look forward to your reply best regards from tech support at Aurora Climate Systems the manufacturer of the Archer gas log fire.

Archer Gas Log Fires

I have an Archer gas log fire - working well over the last 15 years. Is there any danger of carbon monoxide poisoning as it has an open flue and we have a powerful range hood that may suck air back into the house from the Archer gas log fire?

1 answer
Luvlee
Luvlee

All archer gas log fires are air pressure sensitive if air or exhaust was to be sucked in to the room the heater would not start or if running would switch of via the pressure switch it actually needs to suck air in to engage air switch via the powered flue fan motor and all exhaust must go and dose go to the outside atmosphere also the archer heaters are very efficient and very clean burning so you would some how have to get your combustion burning dirty to create your carbon monoxide and then some how expel your flue gasses into the room now if you could do all this you would only smell carbon not carbon monoxide which is odorless but because all archer heaters work on negative pressure this cant happen hope this has been of some help my archer is now approaching 13 years old and still working great.

Archer Gas 700 Series

Hello, I have a Archer IS700/IS007 gas fireplace with remote control. The problem I have is that when the heater turns off it has a pumping/groaning (may not be the best description) sound. It pumps/groan every 1-2 seconds and continues to do so unless I switch it off at the mains. I had read once that the heater have dehumidifier and that this has something to do with it trying to pump moisture or something, but no moisture there so it just keeps pumping. It will go all day, even when the heater I s off, just going humph----humph----humph—humph—humph. Does anyone know if there is some sort of reset or do I need a technician to come out? Hate to get a guy out and it’s just a simple reset type fix.

Hello Simon the reason why your receiver for your remote in the heater is beeping is that the signal has been lost to the handset or it has gotten to hot,i dont no how old it is so i cant tell you if it needs new batteries or not, if all batteries and connections are o.k you need to do a relearn process on the receiver which is a low voltage device and is a simple procedure to carry out, we will need some more information to give you the correct instructions or you can give us a call on the phone and we can guide you through the process our contact phone numbers are 1300 388 953 or (03) 9795 8895 hope this has been of some help to you kind regards from Tech support.

Archer Gas Log Fires

Our Archer gas log heater starts up and runs just as it is supposed to. Then it cuts out! Sometimes it runs for an hour, sometimes longer, sometimes less time.
Today it ran for just over an hour on high with both back and front burners going. Then it cut out. Fan kept running.
After I flicked switch to low setting, (it is not remote control), it tried to light up for about 20 minutes- flames came on but only for 20 or 30 seconds then went out.
Gave up after 20 minutes and turned it off.
This has happened since new. Was told a sagging flue was probably at fault. Had gas fitter/ plumber back to lift and tighten flue but no different.
Our heater is installed in an existing fireplace. Any ideas?

Hello Judy it sounds like all your components on your heater are working fine what is happening is that it sounds like your flue is filling up with water because the heater creates condensate that must drain back in to the heater or away from it,it sounds like you have had this problem right from the beginning the good news is it is very easy to rectify. what happens is when the heater cant breath it is just like putting a glass over a burning candle and the flame go,s out witch is what is happening in your heater if you could give us a call we can guide you over the phone on what to do or put you in touch with someone who is familiar with the product and the corect installation method our numbers are 1300 388 953 or (03) 9795 8895 hope this has been of some help look forward to your call best regards from tech support at Aurora climate systems the manufacturer of the the Archer gas log fire.

Hi there, we have a IS700 - Year 2010 - Mains Gas with a horizontal flue, the rear burner starts and flames up for a few seconds and then stops, the front burner seems to work ok however on occasions it hasn’t started- we have carried out the reset process as per the manual - any ideas ? You can hear the gas solenoid click in then it flames up and then you hear it clunk off and then it flames out - regards Warren (We are in Melbourne)

Hi Warren if your your rear burner lights up for about 3 or 4 seconds and then goes out and about 30 seconds later tries again this means the control unit is not seeing the flame so it shuts of the gas to the burner it may just be that your rear burner flame censor may need to be cleaned this is a relatively simple task which we can guide you over the phone or if you have not had your heater cleaned or serviced we can give you a number of a technician in your area our numbers are 1300 388 953 or 9795 8895 we are based in Melbourne,we are Aurora Climate systems the manufacturer of the Archer gas log fire hope this has been of some assistance to you best regards from tech support at Aurora.

My Remote refuses to "talk ' to the receiver despite constantly " re learning " Can I overide this by operating the heater manually ? if so . How ? Serial # 3835858211 2008 model . Thanks

To be able to use the heater manually, you have to switch the receiver box to the "ON" position. Also check the betteries in the receiver box, as they may need replacing

Thanks for that . I did actually resort to doing that with fingers crossed . Luckily it works . Receiver box is electric - NO batteries . We have given up on the remote control now . I think the thing itself is in need of replacing . Using it manually is not a problem for us though

Archer Gas 100 Series

Hi..I live near Cambridge, NZ and own an Archer FSP 100...apart from replacing a gas solenoid it has performed well. Recently however it developed a new fault where the flue fan starts with turning on the mains and the 'purging' light on the display panel flashes. Also on the display panel is the 'fan' light which starts initially, but then fades out before the purge or start up cycle ends. When the flashing light stops, (and then usually the element lights, the gas valve opens, and the flame starts.) Now, when the flashing light stops...nothing. Fan keeps going but nothing happens and I need to turn the heater off. Local gas people are reluctant to deal with this heater so, any thoughts on the problem please? Thankyou and Kind regards....Noel

Hi there
the problem with your heater could be, either a blockage in the flue, or water in the pump container due to a faulty pump.
If you would like to forward your telephone number we could contact you by phone and ask some more questions while you are in front of the heater

No, the surround is not optional, and
no, you cannot tile up against the heater, as at all times the heater needs to be removable, in case somebody needs to work at the flue fan, or sometimes one could get a blockage in the flue from insects
