Archer Gas 100 Series

We have had our Archer for a few years now and when working properly has been a good heater, but we have had a number of problems with it.One of the main problems has been with the seal around the door glass paneling not sealing very well.Over the past couple of months we have noticed a bad odour coming from the heater and a build up of soot under the top panel which has burnt into the metal it self.Has anyone any ideas on how to fix this problem? Chris

Aurora A.Aurora

Hello Chris the seal on your door does not affect the combustion of your heater if you look at the back of your heater you will see a rectangular hole where air is sucked in for combustion so they are not a sealed unit and work as a vacuum so any openings would suck air in if you are having problems with soot forming in the firebox, heatexchanger or the condensate you need to check your burner bar position log placement and gas pressure, if you drop the gas pressure by 50 to 70% the heater will begin to clean it self up over time also if the seal is coming loose on the glass it means it has not been handled correctly when removing or replacing the door, hope this has been of some help or you could call us for advice or a tech person in your area it is a simple issue to resolve Phone Numbers 1300 388 953 or (03) 9795 8895 Best regards Aurora climate systems Tech Support.

Sabmal

Sabmalasked

Archer Gas Log Fires

Hi I have had my Archer gas fire for two years now. I started having problems last year as the burners would not ignite or would go out if the weather was cold or windy. This problem has increased this winter. The burners won't ignite when the heater is programmed to come on in the morning. I purchased the heater in 2015. It is an insert shallow and deep model with rear flue. Model number is RC-5301P and serial number is 3150365118. Your advice would be appreciated thanks.

1 answer
Aurora
Aurora A.Aurora

Hello Sabmal it sounds like you might have a problem with your flue if you are experiencing difficulty in starting your heater in windy conditions,we need to know flue type, flue length, number of bends if any, cowl type, you may even have some water building up in the flue,if there was something wrong with your heater you should not be able to start it at all if you had a faulty component,in regards to your remote not starting the heater in the morning you may want to go through the relearn process with the receiver and hand set to make sure they are communicating with each other,if you do not know how to do this you can call us for guidance or we can send you instructions if you do not have a copy, also we do have a very good service person in Canberra which we can give you the contact details of,our phone numbers are 1300 388 953 or (03) 9795 8895 hope this has been of some assistance to you if you need any more help please do not hesitate to give us a call, Best regards from Tech Support at Aurora Climate Systems.

• 2006 IS100
• Internal vertical flue
• Natural gas
• Remote controlled (Skytech 5301P)
Front and rear burners can be run separately.
HSI functions (glows) as expected.
If front burner is running (by red button), and then rear burner tries to start (by remote temp control) it mostly fails on first attempt. However, the front flames momentarily drops significantly while rear ignites.

Just wondering what the red button is for inside the door of the appliance. I was told it is an economy button but was not told when and how to use it?

1 answer
Aurora
Aurora A.Aurora

Hello Kimmarie its Chris here from Aurora climate systems in Melbourne we are the manufacturer of the Archer gas log fires, in regards to your question, the red button is only used in conjunction with a remote control thermostat,it acts as a remote over ride for the front burner only when lit up. There are two ways to operate the heater with thermostat remote 1st is both burner switches down and red button not lit up now when heater reaches set temperature both burners will go out and when room temperature drops both burners will come back on this can at times cause a big swing in temperature,2nd method is both burner switches down and red button is lit up now when the set temperature is reached the back burner only will switch of but the front burner will remain on if room temperature was to drop the back burner would kick back in,in this state the heater tends to just run on low with the fan in low witch is a quieter and less intense form of heat, how ever to help you further we need to know the serial no,model no,and date of manufacturer of your heater and we need no if you have an active remote and what type is it, also is your red button wired up or you can call us on 1300 388 953 and we can guide you through the operation or send you an operating manual, hope this is of some assistance to you, please do not hesitate to give us a call best regards Chris from Aurora climate systems.

Where can I get information about using the remote on the Aurora? We were overseas when the fire was installed and do not seem to have any instructions and cannot find any on line. In the Archer Installation booklet you seem to wash your hands of the Remote with very little details under 'optional remote control thermostat' on page 21. I do what it says in those limited instructions torun it on economy mode but it automatically switches to 'Thermo' ' off 'after a time and the temperature continues to rise ahove the cut off set on the remote

After turning OFF the fire, the fan will run until all the heat in the fire is dissipated, it takes a while to blow out all remaining heat. I sometimes find this annoying and turn it off at the wall plug.

Anna K

For the IS900, this is one of the problems with thermastically control heaters, and unfortunately other brand heaters are going the same way. Manual control seems to be coming less . You can't just turn it off at the power point as you can stuff your heater up. Yes It does take a long time for the fan to turn off but that's how the heater is designed. Very annoying as it seems to go for ever. If your fan is will not turn off good luck dealing with Aurora, they don't want to know and can be quiet rude about it.
