hi, Does turbine head for DC23 and DC 29 fit on DC54 multi floor model?
Regards,
Deepesh
1 answer
Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi Deepesh,
Thank you for your query.
Yes, the fitting on the DC23 and DC29 is identical to the one on the end of the wand of the DC54, so the turbine head will fit, however it won't store on the back of the machine.

how do clean behind the shroud it has build up of dirt and dust behind the shroud not in front?
4 answers
It took me some time and frustration. Somehow I had managed to get it unblocked with a number of different tools including an old wire coathanger, but what worked best was a strong flexible straw that came with a novelty cup from the cinemas. Due to the design I noticed things easily get blocked due to the narrow passage and the location.
Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi Slammer,
To remove the majority of dust from inside the cyclone shroud 'holes', we would recommend to remove the clear canister away, then gently tap the cyclone shroud on a flat surface outside to dislodge the dust. From here, use a dry brush (such as your combination accessory tool) to brush the remaining dust around the holes. Please do not put water on the cyclone shroud as it will cause damage to your machine.
Kind regards,
Taryn
How do I remove the clear plastic canister to do this instruction.
Markasked
Can I get a refund or replacement for an older model Dyson? the Dyson DC54 that I have has dirt passing through the cyclone (no pre motor filter) means they end up in the HEPA filter hidden in the ball itself. As the HEPA filter is not user friendly replaceable I would like to have it swapped for the older DC29 which is still available in Target and Big W. My vacuum is still under warranty. but having it sent back to a service centre to replace the hidden filter is a pain and will cost me money once the warranty runs out.

Our Dyson hasn't got enough suction anymore. We have pulled it apart and thoroughly cleaned it, we even unscrewed the cyclonic part (gold coloured) and thoroughly cleaned it. It works but not as efficiently as normal. There are no blockages. When you turn it on for the first 30 seconds it is fine and then it makes a loud suction pop and it is not as good after that. anyi ideas

Mine had no suction but I discovered I hadn't replaced the canister on properly even though everything clicked into place. Try reseating it?
Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi Marge,
Thanks for your question regarding the suction of your DC54 Multi-floor.
We would certainly not recommend to dismantle the cyclone component of your machine, although there is a small lower inlet hose which may be blocked.
You can find the troubleshooting showing how to check the floor tool, hose and lower duct hose of your machine for blockages via this link: http://bit.ly/internalhose
If we can be of any further assistance please don't hesitate to email us back or call us on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm.

Dear dyson, what has happend to your product. We purchased a DC 05 12 years ago and your machine was exellent. All the parts where strong and robust, even the stainless steel pipe and attachments where made much better. This machine has no suction, its is hard to clean and attachment are rickety, cheap and nasty. Bits are falling of. You have lost me with your product. I should had the old one fixed. And now this model is discontiued. What you should do is give every customer a new updated model for holding your own reputation.

Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi John,
Thanks for reaching out via Product review.
We're certainly sorry to hear your feedback of the DC54 Animal, especially as this machine has the strongest suction of any Dyson ever made. The manufacturing process and materials have changed over the years however, our products are still tested time and time again in the same manner to ensure their durability. Of course, if any part were to break, your machine is covered by the Dyson 2 year guarantee.
If the suction has diminished, it is quite likely there is a blockage of airflow inside the machine. You can check your machine over at home by follow this video: http://bit.ly/internalhose
We would like to offer our support by inspecting the machine and testing it's performance within a local Dyson service centre. If this is of any interest to you, please reach out to our customer care helpline on 1800 239 766 to arrange the booking. Our helpline is open Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm and over the weekend from 8:30am - 4pm.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yes I agree I had one for 20 years and now this is discontinued. How rude of them I will be seeking consumer advice ASAP it's a rip off
I totally agree with you. This vacuum has been nothing but cr@p for us. We've had it repaired once for loss of suction and they had it for 6 weeks... no loan vacuum or anything. Soon after getting it back, the same problem happened, I do not want to give it back to Dyson because we will be without a vacuum for so long! Now it has completely stopped sucking!! We are just going to buy another brand... I wish I had never bought this thing it is a total dud. Dyson must know since they've brought out the new design and discontinued this one??? I wish we could get a refund or a replacement to the newer model. I do not want to keep handing it in to their repair centre, it is so inconvenient and the length of time they keep it is a joke.

Ring Dyson. Hope you registered it. The noise, the poor performance and the very dirty emptying process have left us with a product we do not like. Gay
I would contact Dyson regarding the noise problem because there's something wrong with your cleaner. Mine isn't that noisy at all which I'm happy about. I find it difficult replacing the barrel after emptying and always have to ask a neighbour or friend to fit it for me. Such a headache!!!!
Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi Tony,
Thank you for your question.
We are disappointment to read about the issue you are experiencing.
A DC54 Animal Pro is expected to operate at a noise level which would not require ear protection, we can certainly understand your frustration if this is not the case with your machine. If a Turbine head is excessively noisey, there may be a blockage of break in the airflow. We would encourage you to get in touch with our customer care helpline on 1800 239 766 to receive support.
Our helpline is open Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm and over the weekend from 8:30am - 4pm.

I have a DC54 Animal, and after turning it one for approx 1min the motor appears to generate a loud humming sound (not something that can be considered normal operating levels). However, if I remove the canister the humming noise is no longer evident. Suction appears be be normal in that it remains strong and picks up some major major dirt...the back of the ball (external exhaust outlet) can get very hot; not sure if this normal but the noise is consistent and unbearable. Pls help.

Is it blocked at the small narrow pipes on the appliance leading into the barrel. I have a bent wire from and old clothes line that is nifty for these jobs.....should have been included with the machine for just the occasion, which is a lot.
Thankyou "Sand". I hope its tgat simple but I am trying to picture the pipes you are referring to but if it's the flexible inspection hose; I've done a few times now and it has come up negative. Though not really sure about this section though -

Hi,
We purchased a DC54 a couple years ago. Last weekend, we opened the side of the head carefully to detangle the brush- as it had stopped rolling. Now the cap wont go back on, and vacuum cleaner cant be used. Is there a problem with the heads working properly or manufacturing fault to not be able to safely maintain the machine, and can a repair or replacement be done?
2 answers
Hi Tash I have not had this problem and so unfortunately can't help you. I did notice another post suggesting removal of some of the brushes so you could try asking them or alternatively starting with where you purchased the vacuum and going from there.

Hi Tash,
Thank you for your question.
We are sorry to hear this has happened. It is possible there is an issue with either the cap or the brush bar for your Turbine head.
We would recommend to contact our helpline on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Mon-Fri 8am-6pm and on the weekends 8.30am-4pm. Alternatively you can email through your details to [email protected] and we will be in touch as soon as possible to assist.

do the heads off a DC23 fit the DC54

I'm not sure, the accessories for my old vacuum (I can't remember model) didn't fit, I had to buy a new turbo head and flex tool
Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi Wazza,
Thank you for your question.
If your machine is a standard DC23 (non-motorhead version) you will find the tools will fit on your DC54. If you have a DC23 Motorhead unfortunately these will not be compatible.
If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact our helpline on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Mon-Fri 8am-6pm and on the weekends 8.30am-4pm.

I bought Dyson DC54 six months ago and recently it generates stinky dust smell when operating it, how can I clean it and get rid of the smell. to be honest, I don't like this product especially when emptying the dirt, it is a messy job, dust flying everywhere and those dust that stay on the surface on the bottom of the cyclone output will accumulate germs / bacterial from time to time, not sure about other parts that are not visible, logically, if there's a stinky smell, there must be accumulation of bacterial. Any ideas?

I'm sorry but, as one of the original contributors to this thread, my advice to you would be to go out and buy a different vacuum cleaner. After doing battle with my Dyson DC54 half a dozen times, I gave up and went out & chose an Electrolux which is a joy to use - however I would have to say almost any non-Dyson machine will be an improvement over what you're stuck with. It may seem wasteful to fork out for two machines, but it is much more wasteful to have an expensive lemon standing unused in a cupboard because it makes the job SO DAMNED TEDIOUS. Lozza.
Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi there,
Thank you for your question.
Should any form of liquid or damp enter the machine, this may cause it to harbour a smell. We recommend carrying out the following steps which may dispel any odour.
After emptying you may rinse the clear bin in cold water as per the instructions in your user guide, ensuring that no detergents are used. Please don't remove the bin inner or cone seals whilst washing the clear bin and most importantly ensure that the clear bin is completely dry before placing back onto the machine. Please note that the cyclone top assembly, which attaches on top of the bin, must be removed and is not washable.
We also recommend to let the cyclone, hose, floor tool and wand of your machine air out for 24-48 hours, ideally somewhere safe, dry and sunny.
Best wishes,
Samuel

Sorry no idea. Maybe you can contact Dyson and ask for help. Good luck.

Hi Ali,
Thanks for your question.
A change in the noise of the machine may be due to a hindrance of airflow, and we would recommend disassembling the machine and checking the components. You can find the troubleshooting showing how to check the long hose, wand handle, extension tube and floor tool of your machine via this link: http://bit.ly/internalhose
