Terrible Kitchen Quality and Warranty
NSW, TempeWithin 3 years of having a new ikea kitchen our cabinets have begun to flake like wheetbix and the sink has chipped around the edges. Warranty replacement was requested and rejected due to "excess water in the kitchen" Last time i checked we never had a flood inside the house and of course we mop but we dont swim in the bloody water. I went back the next day the price had gone up by $70 and the sign now said last chance. Disappointed with finished product
NSW, TempeThis was the first time buying furniture from Ikea and would honestly not bother again. We bought a Fjallbo tv bench unit and despite following the instructions carefully when we finally attached the doors they did not line up and ruined the look of the whole unit. I then looked at reviews on the Ikea site to find this was a common problem and Ikea is obviously not taking any notice of this and just letting the units be sold without addressing the problem. Disappointing. We live 2.5 hours from the store so can't be bothered taking this back and having to try all over again, only to get the same disappointing result.

NSW, TempeVery disappointed ..on Thursday night we bought a mattress which can be just delivered .. we paid for delivery no problem .. promising we will get it on Saturday until 6pm.. no problem .. after a few calls not mentioning the time while they tried to figure out what is going on.. in their system wasn't paid?! how can be if was paid and booked a delivery.. anyway its almost 6:30 and no mattress .. but the most interesting thing is tomorrow, Sunday, they will deliver it between 11-3pm
so should be stay at home because of SYSTEM ERROR... WOULDN'T RECOMMEND ANY DELIVERY FROM THEM

NSW, TempeI bought a mattress pad from Ikea Tempe and returned it due to a toxic smell, which gave me an instant headache. I carefully resealed the bag. Head office confirmed that it should get a refund but at the store I was patronised. I remained polite but they refused a refund and thought it generous to give me a store credit. I do not buy Ikea products usually and cannot use a store credit, I want my money back for an item that smelled like solvent meets mould.

Wish i could give half a star
NSW, TempeI ordered furniture in store for a planned weekend delivery. They took my phone number down wrong and the delivery man reportedly tried to ring my intercom which 4 people in the house never heard. Once they took down my correct number i never received any information the following weekend that the delivery person was on his way. Again he reportedly tried to ring the intercom. No attempt was made to call my mobile. Then i find out that they never updated my correct mobile in the first place. Appalling service. Poor communication and customer service.

NSW, TempeAssembling their furniture is straight forward, they do give adequate instructions despite popular opinion. If you are looking for affordable home decor and furniture then IKEA shall suffice. I would not recommend IKEA to someone with a high budget and looking for quality furniture or furniture/decor with a good story behind it.

NSW, TempeI bought 2 DETOLF Glass-door cabinets online from IKEA, paid $69 shipping which I though was a bit much compared to other well known furniture shops, but I needed the cabinets so still went through with the payment.
They arrived promptly but putting them together was a hassle, the wood top and bottom were not cut properly where the glass slides in so I had to cut the groves larger, then screwing it all together at least half of the screws stripped, and the cheap plastic legs for the cabinet crack.

NSW, TempeOn the 01Dec I ordered different items on your web-page with an estimated delivery date of the 04Dec. Today is the 11Dec and I still haven't received anything. I do get calls from Toll (who apparently is IKEA's choice of delivery company) They can't really tell me what is the status of the order but every day they politely say that they will update me the following day. I don't really need all the updates I just need to get my items delivered.

NSW, TempeI wish I came here to check reviews prior to ordering a lounge from IKEA because like many have written before me my delivery has not shown up.
The ETA for the delivery was 7am-11am (booked 3 weeks prior) and it is currently 12.40pm and have not heard anything from IKEA. Their customer service is non-existent, after waiting on hold for 2 HOURS the line was cut off. It is evident that they don't want people to call as they don't show their contact number on the website, receipt or delivery order.
An absolute joke of an organisation. Perhaps they should've stayed out of Australia if this is how they intend to treat their "customers".

I made the 2 hours round trip (toddler in tow) to do this. I was relatively reassured by the helpful customer service rep at Tempe store and I had seen my order with my own eyes. I asked him what the chances were that my delivery would not turn up. He assured me that something would have to go very wrong for me not to receive my order. And here I am today, having spent 2.5 hrs on hold and still no clearer as to why my order has not and is not likely to be delivered today as organised (the courier company do not have my stock and report that the delivery address they have received is 634 Princes Hwy, Tempe - the IKEA store address). The call centre guy said he will call me back. I am still waiting. He could not tell me from looking at the system why my order is not being delivered today and would investigate.The worst delivery service!!

After our experience, I am sure that the warehouse/delivery people working for Ikea operate a scam to drive the customers to insanity, give up on the product, give them the refund (easiest thing!) then write off the product in the system and take it home for themselves.. There is no other way to explain that in this day and age such levels of bad service could exist. Love Ikea products, but the delivery system is an absolute disgrace to the company name!!! NSW, TempeThe customer service model that IKEA use is shockingly bad- i sat on hold twice for over 45mins. My second call was finally answered at 48 minutes. My delivery was cancelled as 1 item was out of stock. there was over 40 items to be delivered, the item in question was 1 shelf. I ordered in store at Tempe, a wardrobe insert for our walk-in wardrobe. NSW, TempeWe purchased Kivak 3 seater couch because it was so comfortable and hugging when we tried it at the store and we decided that this is what we want and what will give us what we were looking for, a nice comfy couch for our TV room. We were also happy to pay an extra $199 for it to be assembled by Ikea preferred contractor. We checked with Ikea customer services staff before we made our final decision whether the new couch will be as comfortable as the one displayed, we were assured that it definitely does match.

The issue came after when we tried the couch, the seats were so hard when sitting on them, it felt that you are almost sitting on rocks and the seat is as high as the couch arms so you almost felt as if you are sitting on the couch arms, it did not feel the same as the one displayed at all. I visited the store where I bought it from the day after and discussed the issue with the floor customer staff, I was told that it should not feel hard at all and was advised to bring back the seating cushions to be checked. I had to drive back home to bring the seating cushions back, they were checked and even they opened a new box to check whether the ones I have may be faulty, after they were checked and compared with another new product the staff determined that the product are faulty and that there must be something wrong with the whole patch. The item deemed to be faulty and they completed the forms and were given a case number for it to be picked up again from our place. We are still waiting for someone from Ikeas to call us to organise the time to pick up the couch so we can refund our money. I feel that Ikea's furniture and product nowadays are lacking the quality, there is no quality control measure in place also all manufacturing been outsourced to China or Vietnam, which means the design is still done by the mother country but the manufacturing is outsourced with no quality control in place. It seems that there is not enough supervision from the designers and items are not checked for their quality before they are packed and send to be sold in Australia as long as it is making profit to the company. We wasted almost 8 hours yesterday going backward and forward trying to resolve the issue even though staff were very nice and polite, but this does not relief Ikea from their responsibility to customers and also does not give them the excuse for wasting peoples money and time. I have another issue that I need to bring up and needs a lot of improvement. The issue is trying to call customer services, it is a nightmare, it took more than 4 hours to be get through to speak to someone, I was so stressed with the wait and the type of music been chosen to listen to, I cried when I got through to someone, they apologised but this does not solve the issue. I feel Ikea has a lot to work on to improve the very poor management process and procedures. The phone contact is the only way to contact Ikea customer services, nothing get resolved at the actual store, at the store you will be issued with a case number that you have to deal with from then on on your own. There is no email system that could be used. I feel this is very poor customer services even though staff are very polite and try to help but the actual processes, procedures and system used is very very poor. I feel that Ikea nowadays is even worse than Kmart, at least at Kmart the customer services at the store can deal with all matters and try to resolve. I know that Ikea is a multinational company but this does not give the right to ignore customers or produce faulty and poor quality products.Customer Service

Also, having spent 6 hours over the space of 24 hours, waiting for someone to take my call, is disgusting. Duty manager was rude and made no effort whatsoever to provide a fix. He simply stated "well that's the way it is". Cheap simple to assemble furniture is great, but IKEA'S atrocious customer service means that I will NEVER buy anything deom them again and I will recommend to everyone I meet, to not purchase, deal with, or organise anything that IKEA offers. Having got both boxes home and starting the assembly, we found the box that contained the feet only contained one, not four. We called the customer service number and after 30min gave up, even though they regular remind you to hold on as they will be with you shortly. A thoroughly disappointing experience. Called customer support and after 40 minutes of waiting, I was told the delivery dates are “estimated arrival dates” and my rug will be delivered soon.
Fast forward to 2 weeks later. No delivery, no rug, still waiting on the phone for customer support AND I’m short $300 in my bank account.

NSW, TempeI am in the process of getting an IKEA kitchen. I have completed payment and am awaiting delivery.
What I didn't realise was that after sales customer service is extremely poor.
It took 3.5 hours last Saturday just to place the order (with an 8am appt). There were items out of stock that I had to go back for and when I got home I saw that their Stone measurements were wrong.
I tried to call 2 days later to confirm stock and check that they could fix the stone order. Absolutely no chance of getting through!! Went into the store for another

So spend the extra. Get a decent kitchen. You won’t save money even in the short term. Unless you’re willing to hand wash your dishes fresh from the dishwasher. NSW, TempeI did online purchased on Saturday and chose to be delivered on Sunday at any time (7am - 9pm). IKEA called me at 2pm on Sunday saying they cannot deliver today for some stupid reasons.
Ok, I asked the operator to deliver after 6:30 pm on Monday as they can deliver up to 9 pm.
The operator said to me that I only can pick certain time range which is 5pm-9pm and I need to be home during the time, there is no guarantee that they will come after 6:30. I won't be home from 7am to 6:30pm during the week that is why I chose to be delivered on week

My items are not all in stock at one store, so he has arranged for most of the order to be delivered from one store and a few items to be sent from another.
