Roomba 637

Hi I adore my new roomba 637 but find that occasionally it will stop in mid clean, not near anything that has blocked it or out of battery and it will flash just a red triangle. What does this mean please?

Good Afternoon
Thank you for your questions, based on this information I am not 100% sure, are you able to tap the clean button again after it has stop. It should then verbally tell you what the error code is?

We purchased a 637 after wanting one for months and it's got damaged on the first day. We've checked everything and can't find what it's got stuck on but it now has a big scratch/crack on the top. Anyone else had this problem? i'm devastated

Good Morning Suzanne
We are sorry to hear this has happened. The Roombas are approx 9cm high including the front sensor. If they are fit underneath something they will get under there. Sadly these can mean some units may get stuck and scratched, If you find you have something that this may happen with, we recommend using your Virtual Wall to deter the Roomba from going near that item.

Do you know if any can purchase a cover? Can find them online for every other except the 637. I understand that it won’t go under a piece of furniture that is low but thought the sensors would guide it

I too have had this issue; my robot is about 6-8 weeks old. When press 'Clean' button it sets off again as if nothing wrong. So far happened about 3 times. However, have to say that, it is generally much better behaved than the 2 previous brands we owned which cost twice the price.

Roomba 690

First use of my new roomba 690 and it only did part of the house and went back to the docking station, docked and lights shut off. Does it start up again and finish the house? Having trouble down loading the wi fi capabilities. For such an expensive machine it is kind of frustrating. Please help!

Hey I don't run mine on Wi-Fi so can't help there. Mine goes back for a recharge or if it's full. Once docked you do have to restart. Id start with a check that it's fully charged and not full. Mine does about half the house at a time before it's full but it takes 30 secs to empty so I run it more often (not roombas fault I have lots and lots of pets so lots of d dust and fur and my hair.,) otherwise take it back to the store and ask for help. I deliberately bought it at my local jbjifi (No I don't work for them) specifically so I could go in for help. Also many room bas will tell you what's wrong, e.g. it might flash an orange light and dock (it's tired) it might beep and say something if it's tangled. Hope this helps

iRobot
Teghan R.iRobot

Good Afternoon Shelley
Sadly the Roomba 690 does not have recharge and resume capabilities, once it has completed the cycle it's battery allows it will return to the home base and recharge only. If you wanting further cleaning, you will need to manually ask the Roomba either by pushing the clean button or via the app.
We have found a few customer are having a little trouble getting the app and Roomba to sync. We have found this can be due to the wifi rotor running on 5ghtz rather than 2.4. We also recommend having everything together within 3 feet of each for the set up process. Once everything is setup you can move you Roomba to any location in the home, as long as it still has access to the wifi it will work.
If you have any further questions, please contact our office directly on 1300 727 421.

The best model to ensure your Roomba in not continuously repeating the same areas over and over again would be to look at the Roomba 980.

Roomba 650

My romba 650 only makes clicking sounds when the “sweeping arms” get against an object. It then turns away and at the next object it clicks repetitively for about 4 seconds. Just started doing this at about 17 months of use.

FYI, I just replaced the black/white spinning ball. The old very worn-down ball was causing an error but the new ball fixed that. Any ideas?

Thank you for your questions. It is possible the side spinning brush may need replacing. We do recommended this every so often the they can get worn from continuously getting hair and debris caught around it.

Hi,

From what I can tell my Roomba does not have the mapping feature? Is this true? When will that become available for the 600 series? Thank you

Gilly44

You need to ring up customer support for this to be answered. Mapping is a whole different technology I hope Roomba does not get. It will make them very expensive, and more to go wrong. I love the way my Roomba forages around, seems to get it all covered somehow.

Malcolm R.iRobot

HI Wouse Wife
All robots have iAdapt Responsive Navigation which uses a full suite of sensors enable Roomba to work its way in and around the nooks and crannies of your room. However the 600 series does not have the camera function available at this time to shoing the mapping on the App.

I have a iRobot 600 and while cleaning the docking station light is flashing. Shouldn’t it automatically go back to the docking station to charge? Most times I’m not home to watch the cleaning process but have found it sitting in a room and not back in it’s station.

Hi,
The only time I experienced this was when I started the iRobot manually away from the base. It couldn’t find its way ack to base. Otherwise if started from docking station always finds its way home.
Try cleaning the contacts and the sensors. Otherwise ring the Roomba hotline.

Malcolm R.iRobot

Good Afternoon Jolene
Thank you for your question. Depending on the age of yourRroomba it is possible the battery may need replacing, as it may no longer have enough left in it to get it back. If you have a single pin charging cable you should be able to plug this directly into the Roomba for further testing and manual charging.

Sadly the Roomba 637 is not wifi enabled, and can only be operated manually. To reset the Roomba you will need to hold the "Spot" and "Dock" buttons together for the 10 seconds.

Good Afternoon Teresa,
It is possible that your Roomba and charging station may have a grim build up on the silver connectors. We recommend cleaning these with a pencil eraser or scotch brite sponge which are a little more abrasive than a cloth or tissue.

Good Morning tyhome
We usually advise the approx life span of an iRobot battery is approx 2 years, as per the expiry date on the batteries. However, as long as the Roomba is well maintain, we have had a lot of customer that have not had to replace theirs for closer to 3-4 years.
