NBN50 service, generally up. Some connection drop-outs but haven't been a customer since before the COVID measures and so many more people at home, I'm sure bandwidth allocations/management haven't been easy.

ever) but instead relegated to sending out a technician. Considering we are only getting one or two disconnections a week or so, probably due to circuit load on this ole house, one of the first in the country to be wired for electricity, a long long time back... We are waiting for the public health act restrictions to be lifted before allowing unnecessary entry into our home. I am testing on-site and believe any anomalous disconnections to be from fluctuations from powered devices which draw inconsistent loads, as we have both ballast for fish tank lights, and an electrotech workshop, and also had moved the router around several times, which apparently the VR500V TPLINK doesn't like so much. At any rate, I am participating in market research for ieatwords.com.au, why are we doing this here ? It seems inappropriate, if you had a concern you could contact me directly rather than use my review as a launchpad for two-,way marketing communications. I feel it is a little manipulative. Next time please contact me to discuss my service.

Great service from an Aussie Company

Not perfect but Almost perfect
I think i been getting my internet from this company for 1~2 years now on NBN 100 plan. As we are in Australia (in my case NSW) the internet is not perfect and I do get a few dropouts time to time. However, I will say they counter this with the customer service team. I have used at least 3 other companies and every time I called them it was an overseas customer service team, very difficult to understand, slow, useless and I personally don't know why they are even working there. However, every time I call Mate communicate service team it was all local, I guess the only downfall is we can't call them after working hours for support.
My overall experiences from past and present, it is very pleasant and good

In regards to our hours, with our support team are all based in Australia, there are trade-offs we have to make in order to keep this the case. We could easily extend our support hours if we were to have offshore support but this is not something we are willing to do as we are committed to 100% Australian support. All Australian service & support is a winner
Connected to Mate on a friends recommendation. Been with them at 2 properties & never got a speed less than 40MBPS which is well beyond guaranteed speed. It always helps when the tech team and support team is in Australia rather than overseas.

Impeccable customer service
The internet connection is 95% reliable, most of the time when the internet speed tends to drop is from normal peak times and or terrible weather (no fault of their own). Their customer service is absolutely amazing. Fluent, clear and articulate English speakers that always handle my inquiries with a sense of urgency, I was never put on hold for a long period of time. I always get an e-mail or a call back from Mate Communicate when the lines are busy. Their reputation speaks for itself, I hope they continue to have the same quality of service in the future.

Profits over people
NBN discounts not being passed onto the customer and no empathy for people going through domestic violence and hardship.
Disgusting company to deal with.
As an Australian business ourselves, we certainly understand the effect that the COVID-19 epidemic is having on many of our customers.

We are not sure what nbn discounts you are referring to. nbn is increasing bandwidth during COVID-19 and this has been passed onto our customers via our network provider. nbn is NOT passing on any discounts as yet. Excellent customer service!
I had a great experience with mate. I had previously tried to switch to the NBN with an alternate provider. The alternate provider was unable to help me get my own router connected. I sent mate a message and received a phone call within a few minutes. I signed up on the spot and had great internet the next day.

Great coverage, service and set up coupled with efficient, personable professional service.
I chose the 100 NBN plan. Connecting took less than 1 business day (amazing) and I was guided on the phone and aided by detailed emails. The call centre is in Sydney and each and every representative liaises with a human touch and are NEVER pushy or rushy. They are so helpful and patient. Their service is for everyone.

Worst Internet Service I Have Ever Experienced
15+ years with TPG and they were able to quickly resolve any issues... 3 months with MATE and after poor connection to no connection I made 1 phone call to them. Tech couldn't resolve issue so sent Telstra tech. Telstra tech says you need to call back MATE to re-Authenticate. Called back and told MATE this and now internet back up BUT now I am being billed for the Telstra tech to come out who ended up doing MATE's job!

Our team has reviewed your account and can confirm that you were charged an incorrect call-out fee by Telstra because your modem was plugged into the wrong port. Our support team went through some basic troubleshooting over the phone with you - part of this troubleshooting involved ensuring the DSL (phone) cable was plugged in properly. You were instructed to remove both ends of the DSL(phone) cable from the modem and the phone socket, swap the ends over and plug them back into the same sockets. At no point through the call were you advised plugging the cable into a different port on the back of your modem. The completion notes from the Telstra technician which attended your premises as part of the fault state that the modem was plugged into the wrong port on the back of your modem. Based on the troubleshooting which was carried out it was determined that there was DSL sync on the service. You were advised that there would potentially be an Incorrect Call Out Fee (ICOF) applicable if Telstra didn't find a fault on the network. You accepted the conditions under which the fault was logged, the potential of incurring a call-out fee. Based on the above, we were unable to dispute this Incorrect Call Out Fee with Telstra. 3. I only have 1 wall socket. So for you to refer above that i was not supposed to plug into a different wall socket proves again that you are not listening to my case and are simply passing the blame to your customer (me) to have to foot the Telstra call out fee. 4. The Telstra tech came out. He said the cable is plugged in the wrong port (on the modem). I said i know, the mate tech told me to change it. 5. We put the cable back into the correct port on the modem. 6. WE STILL HAD NO INTERNET CONNECTION. Again you are not listening. THIS WAS NOT THE ISSUE! 7. Telstra tech advised i had to call Mate because my modem needed to be re-authenticated. 8. I called MATE, advised what had happened, that the Telstra tech advised the problem was i needed to re-authenticate my modem. 9. We re-authenticated the modem over the phone AND I HAD INTERNET AGAIN! 10. The issue was not a wrongly plugged in modem. The issue all along was the modem needed to be re-authenticated. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE ON THE FIRST CALL I MADE. Hence this was the fault of MATE not ressolving the issue over the phone on the first call and took the Telstra tech being called out to ressolve MATE's issue. Now I am having to foot the bill of MATE's inadequate phone tech. 11. You keep referring to the first call but always avoid my follow up call on 29/2 after the Telstra tech left where we had to re-authenticate the modem and that is what finally restored my internet connection. fantastic service, even better speaking to a provider who is contactable.
By far one of the best services going around, I was with Telstra and TPG and both sides are not contactable.
I signed up with Mate and I was connected in less than 48 hours which also included speaking to Mark and Anthony who guided me through the configuration.
Never Looking back Mate!!

It was refreshing to get excellent friendly and Australian service, these guys where consistently above average in customer experience hooked up mobile phone and NBN 100/20 soulmate deal where I got $10 off all up $69 for 100/20 at time of writing Covid 19. r missed delivering for two times effectively going to take over 5 day in delays, asked if I could go buy my own they actually took the initiative and recommended compatible NBN modem/router to buy, but that they would recall and refund their NBN modem, not even a sidestep, even sent me an email of compatible modems as well a guide to connect after I bought as well as letting me know support times due closing time of their support that night so I was well informed to make a decision, further if anything went wrong at times with technology it does that the would offer support Mon to Sat and their times, these guy fully armed me and didn’t try to take the easy option of telling me to wait however long so they could make the $149 on their modem and not support me with outside modem, awesome work guys. They provided all I needed as well as provided me connection details so it was a simple task. In short, raced to Office Works and bought recommended modem followed instructions and after waiting for modem to syn with NBN connected without a hitch. In a word brilliant. I have tested the speeds and I am getting well above the advertised speed going 90 + Mbs coming down and at least 38 mbs upload well over the 20 mbs so very impressed with speeds mind you this is with YouTube on TV, daughter on Zoom with 4 cousins video streaming and myself on iPad doing test... so overall very impressed thus far. The Mates Rates are excellent however, now knowing the level of service I would not leave them even if there were $$ differences as the customer service is priceless. The thing I find impressive whilst we are in Covid 19 lock down these guys made you feel great and made it happen even turning a situation outside their control to owning it and working to the customer wants, where you are the King - good old fashioned service, if I could give 10 stars I would it was so refreshing to experience. I have now verbally and highly recommended this company to all my mates and family and even putting my time in to transfer elderly family across to Mates. I have had such terrible experience by TPG in product service and customer service as well as Telstra where service was offshore terrible experience bordering on frustrating where I would not recommend or even go back even if offered it for free (notice I deliberately did not use the word service it’s because they don’t offer it, see my review on TPG first time I gave a negative review as I always look for a positive - that is in this case, I found a better service with Mate). Further in these hard times Covid 19, I fell good about putting $$$ back to employing Australian workers and our economy not like other providers. Well done Mate, I can see us being mutually beneficial soul mates for a long time - I will not be going anywhere now and will continue to refer all and sundry to your service! :). In closing if you are with another provider or are in process of looking for one, your search is over for best deal, speeds as well as kudos of supporting fellow Australians and being serviced by Australians you can’t go past Mate. Highly recommend for exemplary customer service and product service - 10 stars out of 5 Brilliant.2 comments

Well you need to ask them directly. By calling them. i think you can if you call them probully a month in advance. They dont charge any sign up fee or exit fee.

All of our plans are month to month and we are unable to suspend or place an account on hold.
However, you could cancel your service before the start of your next billing cycle and then sign up to a new account to reactivate the service when you are back.

We can confirm the soul mates nbn 100 is suitable for 6+ users, however, if only 1 person can connect at a time, this definitely sounds like an issue.
