Post handover
10 mos post handover. Issues with our tile and driveway has not been resolved. Called our service warranty team and week after week Still no actions done on the site to rectify items in the house. I have waited more than 48business hours for someone to give me an update on the concerns I have post handover but not a single response to my email or call back received. Very frustrating customer service for the top dollars We paid for the build... so frustrating.

New Home Build
A great experience dealing with both [names removed] throughout the pre-build phase of our new home. Excellent service and kept us moving forward. We enjoyed the experience and organisation. Wonderful and smooth experience!
We had a wonderful site supervisor and he guided us through the entire build process and gave weekly updates on the progress. We could contact him for any queries and he was very helpful. The build was finished in record time and we are really impressed with the quality and finish of Metricon.

After Sales Shambles
Up till now, I have resisted writing a bad review for Metricon however I am now at wits end. The build was an incredibly frustrating and disorganised process. I had over 7 different site managers and I had to invest huge amounts of my personal time to ensure the build matched the plans and was of a decent quality.

There is just no one in the organisation willing to take responsibility and get the job done. I would be very weary of building with Metricon. Land and house package is a scam
We paid deposit on 25/11 for one land and built.
Two weeks later advised that, this package is gone. So we signed on quote for next lot for home and land package . 7/12 with half a room chopped off from their initial offer .
Land contract was provided immediately .
Three month into waiting for built contract we find that there is 2m slope and no backyard .
Three month and two days after deposit, we receive building insurance . Still no contract.
On same day we find that land was sold....Read more
So package was scam all along . Quote is meaningless peace of document . The contract value on insurance document was higher by 50k . we never received answer why. And Metricon has no power over land that they offer in package. It is all pure scam. Plus The level of errors and correction all along the way was in every single document and email. We have just completed our build in Dee why and are very happy with the end result. Our site manager [name removed] called us every week and always delivered the results he promised at the start of the week. The house has been built with no details spared and very quickly. We will definitely be building with Metricon again.

Should have done it sooner!
After having put off doing a knock down rebuild for a number of years the confidence to do it came from the moment we met our sales person at the Metricon display home. He was super helpful, knowledgable and most importantly patient as we went through the selection and design change process. The process could not have been easier.

nd total transparency made the process more of an experience, one we don't get to do often and so being conscious of this he ensured he had all the bases covered and he lead a team of trades who all did a fantastic job. I am sure [name removed] had other jobs and multiple projects in progress, but never did he make us feel like we were just another job. He always did what he said he would do (and more), followed up when required and provided guidance throughout. When the odd thing didn't go as planned (which is totally expected) he was able to adapt, address the issue while always maintaining the highest level of care and transparency. Michael had a great ability to manage multiple things at once. His management of resources, timelines and other variables was great. Our home was built in about 18 weeks with no major hiccup, no neighbours complaining and most importantly a clean and safe worksite which ensured all the locals were kept on side. Like [name removed] our sales person, [name removed] is a real asset to Metricon. While the brand was well known to us in the end the people make all the difference. I would not have any hesitation to deal with either of them again. Throughout I don't believe there was ever a request which was too much trouble, too hard or didn't have a more than satisfactory outcome. Great work in short time
I was little bit afraid of knock down and rebuild as I have seen many properties not being built for long periods of time. I choose Metricon and it turned around lot better than my expectations. My site manager has changed at time close to completion. Sahil is the site manager now for my property. He is working like a machine to finish work on time and I am confident that he will deliver project on time and I will be moving soon.

Poor quality, rude and unprofessional
I have been living in my Metricon built house for just over two years. Unfortunately building with Metricon was the worst decision we could have made and I am learning that it gets worse and worse with every interaction.

Metricon Disaster with many serious defects, very slow to respond and very poor communication
Our Metricon new build is a disaster:
* Major defect with slab concrete blockage in our drainage pipes, which means 2 of the 3 bathrooms can't be used. This has already caused 2 sewage floods in the home - including stinking water flowing up from the floor waste trap. The floods have ruined the floorboards and mould is now growing under the skirting boards. The wet & sewage contaminated floorboards have now been removed and we're now living on concrete slab on the ground floor while we wait for Metricon to fix everything.

Site manager is superb
Michael the site manager from Metricon, who supervised the site work for our duplex, is very professional. He is good at communication and problem solving. He cares about the quality of the job a lot, and was always responsive on calls and emails. He has extensive knowledge on construction and building industry, and manages trades well. We felt a lot easier with Michael on site. Would definitely recommend him!

Once you settle, they don’t care about you anymore
The build was a very long build and we had our site manager changed 4 times during that build. It was delayed for settlement and we were rushed to agree to settle and fix things after settlement even though we noted problems. Some of which were big problems like doors that wouldn’t lock, water damaged walls and a giant leak in the backyard pipes that caused a pond to form and delayed our landscaping.

New Metricon Home
Our build journey started in September 2018 when we met with Metricon to discuss our new home. Once all our contracts were signed we unfortunately had a very slow process with Sutherland Shire Council. Our Administrator [name removed] did a great job with keeping us updated, unfortunately the council were extremely slow to push through our DA. We lodged our DA on the 04.12.2018 and the approval did not come through until the 13.05.2019. Metricon started our build around the 23rd July and we had handover on the 20th December 2022.

e supervisors throughout the process, 2 of which were not with us for very long, we were originally worried about how many supervisors we would be given but the 3rd supervisor was with us until the completion of our build. We were very happy with our site supervisor [name removed], he did a great job after taking over after our slab and framework had been completed. [name removed] always called when he said he would and was very helping us, as this was the first home we have built. He was always happy to let us walk through our property upon request and was very good at explaining the building process and when contractors were booked in. When we went through our final handover, nothing was any trouble. He confirmed any issues we had would be fixed. We have now moved into our home and have had a few minor defects, which hopefully will be fixed. The Sutherland shire was hit by a large storm and unfortunately we have had some leaks through the roof and a window that has not been sealed properly. We are waiting to hear back from them, fingers crossed these problems are addressed promptly.1 comment

Absolutely Horrible Experience!
We have had absolutely the worst experience building with Metricon. I am sharing to the viewers only on of the many issues which has been so frustrating to face, especially when you know what you have picked as a selection. We chose a SQUARE duct by Clipsal which was offered at the time and what we were shown. It has turned out later that they had installed the wrong duct which was a ROUND by Clipsal. written a Square description of the duct but the product code was for a ROUND! Now after all this Metricon is claiming the ROUND is the correct duct as the square description is outside of the duct. I have attached pictures which are to support this. I have also clarified this with the manufacturer, Clipsal, and the installed ducts are infact incorrect and are Round, NOT SQUARE! All I want is this to be rectified and It has been such a frustrating experience dealing with the Service and Warranty team, especially when they know it is incorrect. I have now no choice to raise this further to NSW Fair Trading!!! I will never ever recommend anyone to build with Metricon. It was our biggest mistake especially after spending close to $1M in build cost and being treated like this!!!!1 comment

Build Review - Good Experience
The construction of our Vantage 38 (42 after modifications) started in February 2022 and we were handed the house in October 2022. The journey was up and down but we are very happy with the house definitely exceeded our expectations.
When the construction started, we had issues with our Site Manager [Name Removed]. He had lack of communication, issues with the neighbour eventually had to stop construction and build the side retaining wall. The issues arose mainly because of over allocation of the sites. sing the issues around early April and since then it was really smooth sailing. After the workload been managed, [Name Removed] was very responsive, kept us up-to-date, flexible (allowed our tradies like blinds, wardrobes etc. to come in, under supervision, to do the measurements etc.) and most importantly had a key focus on quality. We were very happy with [Name Removed]. One of the reasons we had selected Metricon was because of their internal QA process. Although sceptical at the beginning as they were QA’s their own work but their QA process was very thorough. It did delay the handover slightly (from the communicated day which was well before the contracted date) but in hindsight it was a good thing because there was no compromise on quality. From a cost perspective, Metricon stuck to the contracted price so that was very handy as I often read about how the cost during construction invariably increases not in our case so their fixed price contract worked quite well. Advice, do get an external QA (ideally with two inspections) and do visit the sites whenever you get a chance as if there are issues and the early to identify then easier it to get them fixed. One thing we had focused a lot on was the electrical plan as we had a lot of provision for installing home automation system, home theatre as getting things rewired post plastering or painting is difficult.1 comment

I have emailed the above and called the general line many times and left messages as there is no direct line to Service and Warranty Department.
No one got back to me.
I ended up getting a plumber yesterday and spent $340 to get the toilet fixed which I am not happy about.
I also included in my email to Service and Warranty Department that none of my doors are locking - a gust of wind will open all doors including bathroom doors! I have a few other issues as well that I had included in the email to Service and Warranty.

Thank you for your recent question to Metricon. Formaldehyde does not persist for long in the environment. When it is present in the air, most of it degrades to molecular hydrogen and carbon monoxide. Should it be a concern, we suggest opening up the doors and windows which will help to lower levels in the home.
