i use to use Tick Insurance Australia never again
wanted to Cancel a current Travel Insurance due to the Corona Vid cause i couldn’t travel so i called Tick insurance they said i wasn’t allowed to claim only wanted to cancel the policy or a credit note very disappointing

Absolutely no help in a difficult time
We were caught in Thailand during the Covid 19 crisis. We had purchased travel insurance in 2022 and Australia closed borders while we were in Thailand. We had multiple flights cancelled and had to cut our trip short by a week to be able to get home. Not only could we not contact tick from overseas, once we got home they refused to cover any costs we had incurred. The service people are friendly, but they offered no help and we ended up thousands of dollars out of pocket. Will never insure with tick again.

Have used tick insurance a few times now, but when emailing recently because of cancelled Bali trip, my message was not delivered because the return address was refused. Tried again same result.

Avoiding Responsibility
I purchased top cover in April 2022 for travel January 2020., unfortunately i had a accident in USA and landed up in hospital for 4hrs, with exceptional care, unbeknown to me, a few weeks after returning home i recieved medical bills in mail, for the care i recieved while in hospital, straight away i put in a claim to tick insurance, holey moley, this has turned into a nightmare for me. Will never use them again
I purchased my insurance policy for Bali almost 12 months ago. I sent them an email on 23 March as I was due to fly out on 3 April asking if I could get a credit and refund and received an email today advising No to both. This COVID-19 is out of everyone control. Never had any issues with them before until this situation.

Unable to get ANY proper response from Tick
I purchased TOP cover with Tick for a trip to Europe in July. I submitted my claim on 18/4/2020 with all necessary documents.
I have since been given 3 different dates when I would hear from them (supposedly 10 business days) which they then extended after I followed up. I have sent multiple emails with no response. I have also called multiple times to speak with a manager and I am told somebody will call me but they never do.
Tick has not provided me any service and have not provided what I have paid for.

Rip off company
I have used tick insurance many times as I travel a lot, never had to claim and have recommended them to many people. Not anymore. At the beginning of January way before any talk of Corona, I took out insurance for a Bali trip in June. My trip has been cancelled and I have rebooked for December. I emailed tick and asked if I could change the dates on my insurance, same destination, same length if time. They flat out refused. I had to reschedule a holiday a few years back and the insurance company I used were happy to change the dates for me. It's no skin off their nose, I just want to change the dates. They've lost me as a customer and I will never recommend them to anyone, way to go tick.

Do not purchase insurance through this company!
I contacted Tick to request a refund of my policy as my cruise has been cancelled and the insurance is now absolutely useless to me.
Tick refused to refund me saying that it’s after their 14 day cooling off period. I realise that but out of goodwill I would have thought they would consider a refund.
I have read so many wonderful stories about other insurance companies giving refunds to their clients well after the cooling off period.
I will never purchase insurance through this company and I will make sure my family, friends, friends of friends and anyone else needing insurance will never use this company.
What exactly have you done with my money Tick?

Totally unfair
Have used Tick for all our domestic travel.
Got our cover 29th January for travel to Perth 2nd July.
Now all flights cancelled and no travel!
Told there were no refunds or deferral, how unfair is that when it is out of your control.
Had insurance with another company for international travel in May they had no problem.
Not happy with tick
Very unreasonable.

At the time of writing this review, I have a claim pending. Based on the other reviews, I’m not holding out much hope.
I purchased this policy for a trip to Melbourne ( From Perth ) in the middle of November 2022. On the 20th March 2020 after reviewing the Australian Governments warning for domestic travel I decided to cancel my holiday.

RIP OFF COMPANY...AVOID
This company is a money grabbing rip off.I purchased travel insurance on 3/1/2020 for a cruise out of of Singapore on 25/2/2020. The cruise was cancelled on 20/2/2020. I put in a claim for cancelled airfares immediately. On 9/4/2020, after numerous emails to Tick I received an email declining my claim. Do not deal with this company as they will find any excuse to decline your claim!

I’ve purchased Tick Travel insurance on several occasions for overseas travel. Their insurance is reasonably priced, can insure me for most locations around the world, provides a wide range of cover (but not for everything), and is available to senior citizens who are often excluded by other travel insurance companies. uch as the Coronavirus pandemic named COVID-19 or bankruptcy of a tour operator. My travelling companion suddenly became injured and was unable to travel, an event which was covered in the Tick PDS. We were both no longer travelling because of the injury so I lodged a claim for the loss of some airline fees and the percentage of my travel package which was not reimbursed by our travel company because our cancellation being quite close to the travel dates. I was able to provide all of the required documentation and Tick settled the full amount of my claim for which I was most relieved. I have no hesitation in giving Tick full marks for both their travel insurance cover and claim settlement. I’ll definitely continue insuring with Tick for my future worldwide travels.Similar opinion? They're The Cheapest Travel Insurance Around - But There's A Reason They Are
Purchased Top Domestic policy on 16/03/20.
At time, only international flights were affected by COVID-19 in/out of Australia;
On 18/03/20, Federal governments updated travel advice to Level 4, all but stopping all non-essential travel.
Tick posted email, dated 19/03/20, (3 days after I purchased policy) stating all policies purchased after 31/01/20 would not be able to make a claim because of COVID-19.

Never again with TICK
Coronavirus prevented all travel but no refund from TICK, and no desire to communicate, but happy to take my money, just money grabbers, extremely disappointed in their attitude and not reasonable because of this worldwide pandemic, what other more valid reason could there be to cancel my policy and ask for a refund

This is the third time I have used Tick Travel and I think it is good value for money it was a lot cheaper than other policies I checked out, I did make a claim and was fully paid out with no argument although it took a little longer than first stated

Do not book insurance with this mob!!!
Thought we would book insurance with TICK as at the time, all the reviews were good (probably because buying the actual insurance was easy... go figure that's the easy part).
Spoke with them today and although we purchased our insurance prior to the warnings for our trip to Hawaii in June, they won't budge on being helpful with a claim. No support with the COVID19 Virus situation
Took out Tick Insurance as it was a lot less than others. 2nd time we have used this company. Whilst my wife and I were overseas during March 2020 (getting married) we were becoming more aware of the increase of COVID19 outbreaks with FB newsfeeds etc and started receiving warnings from both our airline and Australian Government that borders were closing. Buyer Beware, Don't Use Tick Insurance!!
Tick Travel Insurance is a bad example of the insurance industry. They are not responsible corporate citizens and put profit over ethical behavior. Under direction imposed by the Government to combat the spread of COVID-19, airlines, car hire and accommodation companies cancelled and credited bookings without penalty. I do not recommend this travel insurance
Booked my travel insurance with them for my trip to Japan in May. Trip cancelled through no fault of our own. Asked for a refund. They said NO. How businesses treat others during this crisis will be remembered after the crisis has passed.... ie we won’t be back!

You probably won't get a credit or refund off Tick travel insurance. Just remember next time you book travel insurance check ACCC website. They will inform you of better insurance companies that are giving refunds. Stay away from Tick and insureandgo

Thank you Anna J for your three nonsensical replies. Not only was my cancellation within the prescribed period I was referring to the reply from [Name Removed] of Tick on 27 March 2020 that stated that my 'request # 327938 has been solved' and that my refund would be deposited into the account from which I had paid Tick.
Is Tick going to rip-off two aged pensioners forced to cancel their proposed trip because of the Government's clamp-down on aged people's travel as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic?

Hi Tick Insurance Team, you received our claim by post on 30 Mar. (Claim No. 120008102) for cancelled overseas travel due to our Government’s ‘Do Not Travel’ advice effective from 18 Mar. We have the top cover and took out our policy on 29 Oct 19 for travel from 16 Apr - 03 Jun 20. While we appreciate this is a busy time for everyone during the COVID 19 crisis, we are not even getting a response to my mails (09 and 16 Apr) to you where we are advising additional refunds and waivers we have secured since submitting our claim. On 09 Apr we were advised by you that a claims manager would be in touch, but to date we’ve had no contact by mail or phone, let alone any indication of a likely processing time, noting 10 days is your normal standard for completing a claim, and you have so far had our claim for 21 days. In order to avoid us escalating this due to no response to date, can someone from Tick Insurance please action my mails and give us some indication of your current processing delays by mail or phone.
