Absolutely terrible!
Your customer service is despicable & impolite to say the least. After being told we were not covered ($30k cancellation cover) I was told “have a nice day”. No empathy whatsoever!

Not impressed with the cover
We purchased our insurance back in September, when the virus broke out I wasn’t worried as we had purchased the insurance way before the outbreak. We have now been informed they will not cover a thing with what’s going on in the world right now, $5200 down the drain. Not impressed. Would not purchase this insurance ever again.

Covermore????? Forget it!!!
I booked with an agent to travel to(and from) Tassie. We are elderly 68 and 82. We bought an insurance policy with this mob. Only small $32 add on to the air fares. To our dismay, we bought nothing... The booking agent Webjet, resolved our booking issues.. But no refund from this bunch of thieves.. We cancelled within the correct time frame (or tried to cancel and request a refund). And followed government advice to cancel non essential travel. A Brick wall was what we met with... Do yourselves a favour, go with a reputable insurance company. This mob does not qualify and couldn't give a..... Damn.

However Jetstar yesterday contacted me and said they would be sending a 'credit", Webjet rang me personally this morning and went to great lengths to help out, securing a ticket to fly from Tasmania to Sydney from Virgin providing I travel within the next twelve months when hopefully the CVID19 crisis will be over... I can send you a photo of the policy I bought... Though no problem... It was only $32 but they should NOT have recommended it be purchased... It was a foot and I don't anticipate getting a refund. Purchased a policy, and after 10 days (within the cancellation time frame) wanted to cancel for refund. Called several times but cant get through, now waited for 2 hours - just plain music going and no updated or how long it may be. No other way to put the cancellation through - EG online, online chat, call back etc. Appreciate they are being slammed for the Corona queries but need to get a plan B up and running. If this was a real emergency .... what then.

Please please PLEASE don’t buy travel insurance with this company. Took so long for our claim to be processed only for it to be denied. They charged us extra for my partners pre existing medical condition but won’t cover anything relating to his condition? So why did we pay extra for his policy?
Covermore is an absolute scam. We thought the policy was good value, wish I’d had the common sense to realise it was a reasonable price because you’re hardly covered for anything!

Absolute Thieves
We paid for premium travel insurance for an international trip to the USA at the end of March. Once COVID-19 was declared a pandemic, I checked the PDS to find that many "covers" were not able to be claimed upon. We made the decision to cancel our trip and contacted CoverMore for a refund. Considering that 100% of our airlines, hotels, and car rental providers offered a full refund, we were surprised to learn that CoverMore would only issue a 75% refund. Be Careful When Booking Cover More Insurance Through Medibank
We booked a cruise to the Carribean on the 22nd January and after being offered travel insurance by our travel agent decided to shop around. My girlfriend searched the Internet and ended up at Medibank Midland Gate on the 3rd February where she was advised to purchase an insurance policy with cruise cover, cancellation and medical cover. e were to contract the virus and require medical assistance. She returned to Medibank on the 6th February (3 days later) to query the small print and was handed a letter updated the 6th of February with an original issue date of 23rd January (a letter which she hadn't sighted) basically indicating the policy worthless in regards to medical in relation to the caronavirus and cancellation because of the caronavirus. The women at Medibank said she thought that we should still be covered because we bought the policy before the 6th February but said they can't deal with the policy in store as they are only an agent for the insurance company and to call the number on the bottom of this letter to get clarification. She has called the number on numerous occasions placed on hold for an average hour and a half to 2 hours and each time since the 7th February when it sounds like it's connecting it states there is a problem and disconnects the call. We returned to the store last week and spoke with the Manager and she said because the policy was purchased after 23rd January we wouldn't have any cover and the girl who sold my girlfriend the policy should have given her a copy of the original letter dated 23rd January which would have helped her to make an informed decision and had she received the letter we would have declined the policy. Conveniently the girl that sold her the policy doesn't work full time in the store and their system doesn't allow for them to know who uploaded the policy as there was no name attached. We asked the Manageress to contact Covermore on our behalf and she said she couldn't call them and we would have to keep on trying as she didn't have 4 hours to waste sitting in a queue on hold. We got rather irate we were very disgruntled that although they sold us the policy instore and were quick to take our money they had no control over changes or any means of contacting Covermore directly and said she would send an email to ask them to call us, that was last week. Today Monday we still haven't been called by them after trying to get through all weekend so I rang again this morning as soon as they opened and I was placed on hold again for another hour and a half and then disconnected again. We once again returned to the store very irate and once again we were told that we would have to speak to Covermore. The Manageress sent an email on our behalf but couldn't say whether they would be in touch in 5 days or 4 weeks she also wasn't sure if we would get all our money back as a refund or some as we were now outwith the cooling off period due to Covermore being unresponsive and could only apologise for the girl who sold us the policy that she hadn't given us a copy of the letter dated the 23rd January. So Medibank sold us an insurance policy for $525 on the 3rd February but were already aware that the policy would not cover our needs for medical cover or cancellation for the caronavirus. The policy was misold to her and she wasn't made aware of current DFAT updates at that time she also assumed we would be covered but would need to speak with Covermore and were not given the opportunity to cancel the policy during the cooling off period of 14 days because they couldn't cancel it instore and we were unable to discuss this policy with anyone at Covermore up until today's date and no one has made an effort from Covermore to contact us. The cruise company has already offered us a cruise credit for 100% and more than likely we will be offered a full refund at the beginning of April after the likely cancellation of the cruise with further compensation. I asked the Manageress of the store if Covermore had called for a conference call with Medibank to explain the process and wait times for customers and when we would likely hear back from them and she said they hadn't received any information instore. So the dilemma continues and currently we are awaiting contact from the insurer but with no idea when. If we haven't heard from Covermore within the next fortnight with an apology and a reasonable outcome we will be contacting the insurance ombudsman to raise a complaint against the company. Will update this site once we receive a response from the Insurer. Some feedback for Medibank if you are going to sell insurance just as an agent you need a better process and a procedure so the women who sold us the policy can be identified and held accountable for not disclosing critical information in the current situation when purchasing a policy. No letters were readily available for customers perusal on desks or window area when we purchased the insurance or on the 6th of February or when we attended the office last week and I made a point of asking where that information was displayed and on our return to the store today it was readily available and displayed for new customers on their front window. SHAME ON YOU COVERMORE
I booked full travel insurance for my family dream holiday in October to travel March 27. With the COVID19 my Government has said not to travel. I rang Cover more and after 3 hours on hold was told not only can I not get a refund but I would not be covered if I did travel and get sick.
I am 7k out of pocket and my family and I have no recourse.

When the staff finally contacted me, they were accommodating but it remains to be said, I had to resort to these messages to get contact. It is a difficult time for all with jobs being lost etc but so much more could have been done, an email to all travelling (rather than the one I got saying have a nice holiday) just keeping people updated would have been better than thinking that nobody was there.16 comments

Apparently catergory 2 cyclone is not a natural disaster
After having flights cancelled due to a tropical cyclone category 2 in Fiji at Xmas time we had to book extra accomodation. I submitted my claim with other additional charges only to be told I can only get $200 back because a cyclone is not a natural disaster it’s only a storm. A natural disaster has to involve a fatality. When questioned the operator stated like the volcano eruption on White Island. A. Insensitive b. Are you serious. Applied for cover online. While completing the online form a box at the top right hand side of my computer screen displayed a $dollar value in AUD. I proceeded to the payment section and received confirmation of the payment. Payment of $650 was confirmed but this was almost double the $350 that was displayed throughout the form completion process.

This was our once in a life time trip in our 40's and 50's READ THE PDS BEFORE $$$
We paid thousands for everything up front in August 2022 for a 5-6 week holiday in May 2020. Our travel agent seemed reputable however it was clear she had a relationship with Cover-More. We allowed ourselves to be persuaded and she asked us if we wanted 'Cancellation' insurance we selected the value of $10,000 for cover. We believed for some weird reason that we were covered for 'Cancellation'.

Happy with claim process
Not being one to trust or even value insurance companies I was pretty reluctant making a claim for my prescription glasses destroyed by a monkey in Bali that seemed to fly out of nowhere. Was impressed with the submission system, and just received a note that they will pay out. Not a lot of money but very helpful for me.

cancellation of policy
Due to the Coronavirus, our Tour to Italy was cancelled. We received a full refund from our Airlines, Tour Company, Accommodations, Bus Company, Train Company & daily tours. As we are no longer travelling overseas, we cancelled our Insurance and were charged $85.50 out of $342.00. For what?? We had to wait two and a half hours to get through to someone and then this! Thanks Covermore. Poor customer service!

Honeymoon Disaster - Thank Goodness for Covermore Assistance
Recently I was involved in a snow-skiing accident whilst on our honeymoon in Switzerland. This required helicopter rescue and transport to hospital, hospital care and emergency surgery, reorganisation of a travel plans and repatriation back to Australia. my medical progress whilst we were overseas. As a Doctor myself, I could not fault the care provided. Further to this Covermore quickly and efficiently organised return Business class flights for myself and my Husband to Australia, including assistance in the airport. Our claim / expenses quickly amounted to close to $30 000 AUD. Within 5 days of our return to Australia our claim was processed and paid in full. We were completely covered for all medical expenses and unexpected additional expenses (like extra accomodation) that we incurred overseas. The pre-paid expenses we could no longer use and needed to cancel were also covered in full - this included ski lift passes, car hire, accomodation, flights. We have been extremely impressed with the compassion and care that the various Covermore staff provided to us. The processing of our claim was efficient and fair. Covermore, thank you. We will certainly be lifelong customers of your travel insurance products whenever we choose to adventure in the future.1 comment

Waste of money!
We paid a lot of money for covermore and always purchase insurance through them every trip we go on, however when it comes to trying to claim they always seem to have hidden faults. We were meant to be travelling to Maldives via stop in Hong Kong for our honeymoon. We obviously had to cancel our Hong Kong part of the trip due to the corona virus and we had to purchase new flights with a different airline so we were out of pocket. You would think this so called comprehensive insurance company would cover this issue that is a worldwide issue. Obviously not and the staff that we dealt with were not helpful at all. We will never use this insurance company ever again.

Poor choice for travel insurance. Regret!
The only reason we went with cover more was purely because of our travel agent who is lovely, it's just a shame Universal Traveler are in bed with Cover More. As mentioned by reviews prior to this how could we predict a virus outbreak would happen leading up to our departure! Then you will only offer us a 75% payback from our overall trip cost.

As soon as the Covid -19 virus came on the scene Cover More stated it does not cover Epidemics, Pandemics etc for Credit card policies ie Visa/MasterCard. So any hospitalization, additional spouse accommodation/Isolation costs are not covered.Additionally cost incurred for hire car cancellations are not covered nor are costs for airline cancellations and/or additional flights. This is the one time when you want a reliable insurer not one that relies on Excessive Exclusions. I will never use Credit Card Insurance again even if I have to pay for it with another company ( ING) that does not exclude Epidemics or Pandemics.

Claim Number - 9004798 - Long Delays and no help on expediting
It's been more than 20 days that I have submitted my claim to the company and still haven't got any outcome. They would request a new document and then takes the next 10 business days to respond. No help was provided over the phone as well. Can someone let us know if they faced a similar behavior?

My wife and I took out a yearly policy. So when the trip in April was cancelled, the Pandemic clause meant a dead end. But now we cant travel and when we get around to completing the trip to Europe, the policy will run out. But the policy should still cover the trip we planned to do because It just cannot be completed thanks to government rules. Or Covermore should provide us with a refund for the remainder of the policy.
So can I pause my yearly insurance ?

I have now re-scheduled the trip until Sept 2021 and wanted to transfer my travel insurance policy from the original booking (with no claim) to the re-scheduled. My current insurer has reclined. Hi Cynthia! Regrettably, I’m not an insurance policy expert! It would be something you would have to address with an insurance provider or the travel agent you booked with! But I would question what is needed and when you should consider coverage from! Also ask is Cover-more the right insurance agent! I’m personally not getting coverage for my next trip until I’ve boarded a plan and only for unforeseen medical expenses! I no longer trust any insurance provider!
