Great build and very helpful staff

We had our house built through ABC Homes by Metricon. All I can say is we are very satisfied with the quality of the build for an affordable price. Our process throughout the building process was very smooth. Sales person [name removed] was very good and transparent. Staff at the head-office [name removed] & [name removed] were very helpful too and were quick in responding our querries. Our site manager [name removed] was very good too. Always provided us with regular updates on work done and seemed very well organised in planning the whole build process. We got our home in almost 3.5 months. Overall very satisfied with the builder.

A very good business experience

Our first build of this kind, and we were naturally nervous.
However, the Metricon team proved to be friendly, helpful and competent.
They went out of their way to ensure it was a 'shopping' experience to be recalled fondly.
Nothing was too much trouble, and they made some helpful suggestions along the way.

My build was expertly managed with great support from my Site Manager and the team in the office. The end product is an incredibly designed home built to an excellent standard.
Each week there was an update on progress with no issues occurring during construction. The site was always left in a tidy state and post handover was in a spotless condition.
What a great experience building my first home and I can't wait for my next Metricon build.

We are utterly pleased with the progress build of our first home! Metricon's Site Supervisor, [name removed] is managing this project so well like it is his own home. Senior Building Support Coordinator,[name removed], has also been super helpful and prompt. With their awesome personalities and their great attention to detail in ensuring that the workmanship is pristine- it is a pleasure liaising with both of them! Our independent inspector hard a tough time finding any major flaws. Thank you [names removed] for making our experience such a smooth one, we cannot wait to live in our dream home upon completion.

Good build experience...very happy with the results

We built the Kalarney 29 Vogue (4 bed ranch style house). Build took 6 months.
We had a great site supervisor who regularly kept us informed.
Cost was as per contract.
Had a great experience from start to finish (from sales, selection to construction).
Very happy with finish. Would recommend Metricon.

Unsatisfactory product and post sale customer service

Serious dissatisfaction with result and post-sale service. End product has many serious defects. Metricon doesn't care.

1. Kitchen stonebench long scratches and twopac has many paint peeled offs. Blamed us not checked.

2. Canopy installed wrongly with electrical fault, fire danger.

3. Expensive wooden staircase with damages, not sanded/painted properly.

4. Dishwasher never worked.

Great Warranty Service from Metricon

Four years after the completion of our Metricon home we were hit by a massive storm earlier this year which resulted in water leaking into our main bedroom. Metricon quickly sent [name removed] to assess and finalise repairs. [name removed] was both professional and courteous and demonstrates the reason why we have twice chosen to build with Metricon. Metricon gives great after sales warranty service!

Our build was smooth sailing. Everything flowed nicely from one stage to the next. Our site supervisor was always in contact with myself or my partner keeping us up to date on our progress. All the things we weren't happy with were addresses straight away as to not affect or delay the build. The house is fantastic and I can't wait to get the keys

Great build, and staff!!

This has been a long time in the making and we are so happy we are finally at the stage where we can move in. All the way from Pre-Construction to completion the staff have been hands down amazing to deal with. The staff has never left us wondering at any stage. Since the build started, the house was built right before our eyes and we were updated efficiently the whole way along. The quality of our build was right up to our expectations and the final inspection could not have gone anymore smoothly. We are so happy to finally make this house a home and enjoy our first home together!

We could not be more thankful for our admin support and site manager, you guys have been great! :)

Excellent Site Manager

We commenced our first home build at the end of August 2022 and it was completed by the first week of December 2022 - just in time for us to move in before Christmas! We built the Erickson 24 through Metricon, and were put in touch with our Site Manager, [name removed]. [name removed] made the entire build process very easy for us. He gave us accurate weekly progress updates and was quick to respond to any queries we had. We'd definitely look at building through Metricon again as we've been very happy with the entire process and we love our new home!

Hi,

I recently purchased an 18 months property from the original owners which was built by Metricon. I have asked Metricon to send me the hand-over documents which has all inclusions (features, fixtures, etc) and a login details to their warranty portal.
I have been refused to these requests and was told that such request should come from the original owners before they can send the documents to me as new owner.

The original owners have nothing to do with the property anymore and have no obligations to get involved.
As the second owner who has all relevant papers to prove that, why can't I request to have these pass on to me?

Hi I live in NSW and build a house in Melbourne. Now the house is ready for final inspection and Metricon wants me to appoint somebody to do the final inspection and settlement or it will go for settlement as per the contract. Please see below the exact wording from Metricon Management. (Knowing the situation of the country I believe its unfair to force me to accept conditions as per the contract.

"In accordance with the signed contract clause 36, Notice of Completion has been issued and seven days has now passed. We understand due to current circumstances you are unable to attend the inspection and would like to appoint a Power of Attorney on your behalf.

We request that you please provide your POA by close of business Monday 6/04/2020, in order for the inspection to be conducted. If you are unable to organise your POA, the home will be completed and we will proceed to settlement."

I am happy to appoint somebody to do the final inspection. However I want to be the settlement to take place when the travel restrictions are over as I want to be satisfied that I am getting what I was promised.
(I believe that I only get 90 days warranty to point out any further issues or any items not as per the contract)
If Metricon is in a hurry to settle it, All what I want is to provide 90 days from the date the travel restrictions are lifted (When it is safe to travel).

Thanks for your question via Product Review,

We understand your concern regarding travel restrictions. Travelling to facilitate obligations under the building contract for the purposes of a home settlement (including final inspection) is permissible. It is challenging for all of us, nevertheless, we have needed to find ways to still meet our obligations under the contract.

A Travel Certification letter, confirming you are a customer of Metricon Homes, can be provided. This should be carried during travel, verifying to any authorities that it is permissible for you to do so. Metricon Homes and the residential construction industry continues to be an essential service and travel is allowable between Metricon Offices, displays, design studios or build sites.

As per contractual obligations, Metricon is required to proceed with your home settlement as scheduled. We are unable to hold on to the home, having it sit dormant for an indefinite period. Metricon continues to operate with our Construction operations building homes to meet our obligations for all customers.

As outlined, if you are unable to be present at the home settlement, a Power of Attorney will be required to assist the handover of your home, or the home will be handed over without final inspection.

We are confident that the customer travel letter will provide peace of mind. Please contact us at [email protected] with your Contract Number and/or Site Address and we will send you the travel letter as soon as possible.

Rest assured, whichever way you decide to go, you will have 90 days to raise any Service items that you feel require inspection/correction. You may use a Power of Attorney for this activity as well.

We appreciate your understanding for Metricon to continue performing “business as usual” in line with our obligations to you under the building contract, and we look forward to hearing from you with regards to what measures you are taking in order for settlement of your new home to take effect.
